OPPO Intros Air Glass, Its aR (Assisted Reality) Device

OPPO kicked off INNO Day 2021 today. The OPPO Find N, its first foldable smartphone, will become official tomorrow, while today the company also announced something extremely interesting. The OPPO Air Glass has been announced, OPPO’s aR (Assisted Reality) device.

OPPO Air Glass comes with OPPO’s self-developed Spark Micro Projector

This gadget comes with OPPO’s self-developed Spark Micro Projector, cutting-edge Micro LED, and a bespoke diffraction optical waveguide display. Sounds interesting? Well, it is, read on.

The OPPO Air Glass supports four different user interactions. It supports interactions through touch, voice, head movement, and hand motion. So you can get the information you need in a number of ways, whichever you prefer.

OPPO actually believes this device will “revolutionize the way we view and consume information”. That is what Levin Liu said, OPPO’s Vice President and Head of OPPO Research Institute.

The OPPO Air Glass weighs only 30 grams, approximately, and it’s one of the lightest monocle waveguide devices in the industry, says the company. It can be worn like a regular pair of glasses.

Five high-transparency glass lenses are included here

The frame of the OPPO Air Glass is manufactured with the CNC technique, and the design looks quite interesting. The Spark Micro Projector has five high-transparency glass lenses, and delivers an avant-garde aR experience.

This device supports two display modes, a 16-level grayscale, and a 256-level grayscale. It can deliver up to 1,400 nits in average brightness, which should ensure vivid and sharp content on the display. OPPO also used two levels of sapphire glass here.

The OPPO Air Glass can be operated by using the Smart Glass App on the OPPO Watch 2, and any OPPO smartphone with installed ColorOS 11, by the way. There are also quite a few applications installed here, including Weather, Calendar, Health, Teleprompter, Translation, and Navigation.

OPPO said that Air Glass will launch in Q1 2022 in the Chinese Mainland market. It will come in Black and White color variants, along with two custom frame accessories. There’s still no word on a global launch.
